Easy All Occasion Card!

Kite Front H2O

This week over at: Crazy4Challenges  I am the hostess, and found on the “Calendar of Days” that today is “Kite Flying” day!  So for this Saturday  Feb. 8th. the challenge is to put a kite on your card.  If you don’t have a kite then you can put anything else that flies on your card.  Or,….You can make a kite to put on your card like I did.

The Steps:

Step 1:  Cut a rectangle that measures 5.5″ x 7″ from white cardstock.  Next I used a stencil from Elizabeth Craft Designs called “Clouds and Grass” to stencil this background panel with PanPastels.

Step 2:  I made the kite by cutting a rectangle from Coral cardstock that measures 2″ x 3″.  Then I folded on the diagonal long side.  Then cut the shape of the kite.  Then fold across the kite.  Below shows the toothpicks I glued on the underside:

Step 3:  Cut out a 1″ x 6″  grass edge for the bottom of card with Elizabeth Craft Designs: Nature Edges.  The clouds are from an older Karen Burniston die set called: The All Season Tree.

Step 4:  Make a base card by scoring an 8.5″ x 11″ pc. of cardstock at 5..5″ and then folding for a book fold and trimming to 5″ x 7″.  Now adhere the cloud stenciled layer to the front of the base card.  Adhere the grass edge to the bottom of the card.  Then decide how you want the clouds and Kite.  I added a little foam dot under the clouds and top half of the kite.  Then I added a pc. of white bakers twine to make the kite tail.  Then just cut scraps of colored cardstock in tiny triangles and glued them on either side of the twine.

Step 5:  I chose the stamped sentiment from an older one from Karen Burniston “flying by to say” because I could make a few and stash them for almost any occasion by just adding the appropriate sentiment on the inside.  Thanks so much for taking a quick look:

Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!

Today is “Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast day!  I could eat ice cream for breakfast every day! So the challenge this week over at: Crazy4Challenges  is to put ice cream on your project.

I chose to use a die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1031 – Ice Cream Cone  However, it has apparently been discontinued as of this posting.  So, therefore there is not a link to this set.  But there are a lot of Ice Cream themed stamps and dies out there for you to choose.  I will from now on make sure that I don’t use discontinued products in future posts.  Here is a picture of the set that I used.  I’ll bet you could maybe find it on EBay.2017-08-16 13.10.02

I also used Elizabeth Craft Designs:  1113 Stitched Ovals https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/products/stitched-ovals-1113 and 783 Happy Birthday (also Discontinued) but they have others.  I liked this set because it’s a great size.

The designer paper background is from Michael’s Craft Store and IS still available!

I’m choosing not to write up the steps this week because it’s pretty obvious what they are. But, I will be trying not to use products in the future that are no longer available.  I hope you will join us for this challenge and will be looking forward to your Ice Cream projects.

Cute Wedding Card

You can make anything!

Wedding towels H2O

This week’s challenge over at: Crazy4Challenges is to put a ribbon on it!  So first I want to say this is a challenge that everyone should take because you literally can make any kind, color, and type of card you want!  Just put a ribbon on it.  I decided to make a wedding card. First, because I’m still glowing from attending my first granddaughter’s wedding a few months ago and second because yrs. ago I saw a wedding card on Pinterest with Mr. and Mrs. towels with a bow above the towels.

The Steps:

Step 1:  The card measures 4.75″ x 6″ so score an 11″ x 8.5″ pc. of white cardstock at 5.5″ and fold at the score line for a book fold card.

Step 2:  With white cardstock, cut a rectangle using: 1120 – Stitched Rectangles

Use the largest die in this set above that measures 4.5″ x 5.75″.

Step 3:  Using Elizabeth Craft Designs: Entwined Hearts  emboss the “stitched rectangle”.  Here’s a close up over the sentiment that shows the embossing.

Step 4:  The ribbon I chose looked like it was stitched on the edges to go along with the stitched rectangle.  I made a bow with about 10 inches of ribbon and then cut the ends leaving enough to tape them under the left side top and bottom edges.  Then adhered this layer to the front of the base card.

Step 5:  On a scrap piece of white cardstock about 4 x 4″,  I stamped the Mr. and Mrs. with clear embossing ink and then used silver metallic embossing powder to make the towels.  I separated the mr. and mrs. by an inch apart so I could cut the two towels using the smallest die in this set by Spellbinders: Card Creator

Step 6: Cut a strip of silver metallic mirror cardstock that measures 2″ x .25″.  Fold the top end of each of the towels but without creasing that fold. (you want the towels to thick and luxurious)

As you see in the photo above I didn’t glue the towels over this strip so as the bottom edges were even. LOL  So I fixed that with adding shiny little white trim at the end of the towels from a really old set of border stickers from Martha Stewart.

Add a small silver self adhesive ball to each end of the silver strip as seen above.  Adhere the towel rack to the front of the card as shown using a large foam dot on both the top and bottom of both towels a half inch from the stitching as shown.

Step 7:  The sentiment is cut from silver mirror cardstock using Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1050 – Best Wishes

Make Lemonade!

This week over at:  Crazy4Challenges  It’s Sketch Week!  I love to be inspired by a good sketch.  I bought this stamp set from It’s Cheaper Than Therapy several years ago. It’s called Lemonade2Drink

The Steps:

Step 1:  Stamp the glass and Ice cubes on white cardstock any way you like.  Then cut to 3.5″ x 5″.  Color with Copic Markers.  Cut a rectangle from black cardstock that measures 3.75″ x 5.25″ and adhere the “lemonade glass” to this black mat.

Step 2:  Stamp the full circle “lemon slice” on white cardstock and also color with Copic Markers.  Next cut it out.

Step 3:  Make a base card from a green print cardstock by scoring an 8.5 x 11″ piece at 5.5″ and fold as a book fold.

Step 4: I created the two sentiments in Word on my computer.  Then cut them with my Cutterpillar Pro to 3/4″ wide and left the length at about 4″ until I assembled the card.  I did mark the center with a pencil dot and then manually cut the “fishtail ends”.  I also colored the edges of the sentiment tags with the same Copic marker (Y08)

Step 5:  Next assemble the components onto the front of your base card as shown and then cut the ends of the two “fishtail” sentiments even with the edge of the card.

That’s it!  Don’t you love an easy and quick card?

It’s a Hemisphere Thing!

                                   This week’s challenge over at:  Crazy4Challenges  is to make a card that represents which Hemisphere you live in.  I live in the Northern Hemisphere so I created a Winter themed card.  This one is so quick and easy!

The Steps:

Step 1:  Make a base card from white cardstock by scoring an 8.5 x 11″ pc. at the 5″.  Fold over as a tent fold and trim to 5 x 6″.

Step 2:  Out of Navy cardstock, cut a rectangle that measures 4.75″ x 5.75″.  Adhere this to the base card front leaving an 1/8″ all around.

Step 3:  Cut the sentiment by Elizabeth Craft Designs: Warm Thoughts  out of white cardstock.

Step 4: Cut the 3 snowflakes from white cardstock using Elizabeth Craft Designs: Snowflakes  This link is a die set of 3 Snowflakes, however mine are an older set. I added Glitter Peel of Dots to the Snowflakes.

Step 5: I also used a discontinued die set from Karen Burniston for the Penguin called “Chilly the Penguin”.

Step 6:  Adhere the Sentiment “Warm Thoughts” the “Snowflakes” and “Penguin” as shown and that’s it!

Try Something New!

I have had this one piece die since it first came out but just checked and it has been discontinued.  It was called 1064 – Fitted Frames 4 – Curvy Squares also from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Because of it’s name,  I always used the eight frames as frames!  But for this challenge, I cut the one piece out of white cardstock and then colored each frame and used them all on this card as a background die!  So this is a new technique for me even though I’ve had the die a long time.2018-05-01 16.57.43

After I colored each of the frames, I made a base card by scoring an 8.5 x 11″ piece of white cardstock at 5.5″ and folded over for a tent fold. Then I glued all the frames back together onto the front of the base card leaving an eighth of an inch border all around.

I added Glitter Dots in all the holes also from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  As soon as I had it together it really looked like a “baby card” background.  So that’s what I made.

The “Bunny”  and “Onesy” are from a Karen Burniston’s Baby Charms.  The sentiment tag was first stamped with a Karen Burniston Stamp set and cut with a Sizzix Tag die.

Your Favorite Christmas Stamp

This week’s challenge over at: Crazy4Challenges is to use your favorite Christmas stamp.  I don’t really have a favorite Christmas stamp but I chose this one because it always reminds me of when I was about 4 or 5 and in New Mexico I got to be the little angel in a live Nativity at the church we attended.  We had no lines, we just stood there.

The Steps:

Step 1:  Using a stamp set from InkadinkaClings called “Happy Birthday Jesus”.  It comes with 3 stamps.  I used all 3 (the sentiment, Mary, Joseph etc. Holly border).

Step 2:  I colored and cut the stamped imaged with a Die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs called “Nested Stitched Squares”.

Step 3:  Using another nested squares from Elizabeth Craft Designs called “Dotted Scalloped Squares”. I cut a red scalloped mat for the stamped layer and adhered them together.

Step 4:  Make a card base by scoring cardstock and folding over for a tent fold.  I then cut another mat from a Holly print paper to leave a 1/4″ border when you attach it to the base.  Then adhere the step 3 to the card.

Step 5:  The gold mirror cardstock “Merry Christmas” and stars are also from sets by Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To Honor My Granddaughter!

My Sierra H2O

This week’s challenge over at: Crazy4Challenges  is to choose a card that was sent to you and use it as your inspiration!

I chose my sweet granddaughter’s card because when I went looking at cards I had saved, this one from Sierra was in the mix.  The little girl who sent me this card had paid for it with her own money and gave it to me with a bag of Starbucks coffee she had also paid for!  This little girl just graduated from the University of Oregon. and was just married to her high school sweetheart!  They both have begun great careers!

The Steps:

Step: 1:  I used an older Karen Burniston’s die set that was called “Whiskers the Cat”. I cut the silhouette piece and whiskers piece from black cardstock 3 times.  All the others were cut from white cardstock and colored with Copic Markers.  The Santa hat is from an old KB die set that was accessories for all her “critters” that she released that year.

Step 2: Make a base card by scoring a 5.5″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock at the 5.5″ mark on the long side.  Fold over for a tent fold card and trim to 5.5″ x 7.75″.  (Although this is a huge card, it is the exact size of the one given to me!).

Step 3:  I cut a blue card stock that had little white glittered dots all over it into a rectangle that measures 5.5″ x 7.5″ to cover the entire front of the base card.

Step 4:  The Christmas lights and snow drift on the fence are Silhouette files.  The fence for the snow drift is a 1.5″ x 7.5″ strip of “wood look” paper that I though looked remarkably like the one in the inspiration card.

Step 5: Once I had all the components made, I assembled them as shown and that’s it!:

Sketch Week!

Nov Monkey H2O

It’s the third Saturday of the month so we have a sketch challenge: Crazy4Challenges

This card is fast and easy.   You could use this layout for so many themes and put any feature in the oval.

The Steps:

Step 1:  Make a base card by scoring an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock at 5.5″ along the long side.  Fold over for a book fold and trim to 5.5″ x 7.5″.

Step 2:  I first made a pattern of the wave in the sketch:

Then I used this to make a light pencil mark on two of three complimentary colors of cardstock.   I chose a rust, olive and dark yellow cardstock, in that order, from top to bottom.  Only the two lower colors need to be cut in that wave and then layered onto the top color.  Adhere them, as shown in the sketch, to the front of the base.

Step 3:  I chose one of Joset’s for Elizabeth Craft Designs die sets called “1618 Monkey” :https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/products/monkey

to put onto the oval in the sketch.  The banana die is also in this cute set. Cut and assemble the monkey and cut the banana 4 times.
