Relaxing Bath

Bath frame close H2O

Well, while in California we have all been ordered to shelter in place, I have been having some fun making some wall hangings for family and friends using one of my all time favorite Digital Stamp store, The Paper Shelter’s adorable digital stamps.  This one is called:   Relaxing Bath

Bath wall H2O

First of all if you are not familiar with digital stamps, then let me tell you why I love them and use them more then traditional stamps.  When you buy an image you get the colored image, the black and white line image (to color yourself), a background with the featured image on it or you can choose to print out the feature image and the background separately, as I did for this project.  The average cost is around $3.00!  You don’t have to store them in your craft room because you store them on your computer.  You can also print them out in any size!  So let’s make some cute art to frame!

The Steps:

Step 1:  Print out the colored version of the background and the featured image that goes with it on white cardstock.  Cut the featured image out using a nested squares die set.  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1118 – Stitched Squares

Step 2:  Make a frame using Elizabeth Craft Designs: Happy Frame XL.  I chose to use a purple cardstock for this step so that the bath accessories would stand out.  Here’s the link to the assembly video: Happy Frame Assembly video

Step 3:  I used some Karen Burniston’s die sets such as the little ducks, bubbles and wine set.  I used Silhouette files for the “slippers, soap, bath brush and yellow bottle of bubble bath.

Step 4:  Trim the background to the same size as the frame.  (if you measure 1″ from each side of the background and trim off the excess, then the printed background should be the exact size of the assembled frame (8″ square).  Add double sided adhesive to all four edges of the trimmed background and attach to the backside of the frame.

Step 5:  Add the bath accessories to the frame as shown.  I chose a white 5/8″ wide ribbon to hang the finished project with.  I tied a bow and left enough ribbon hanging from the bow to attach to the back at the length I felt would look good.  Tape the two hanging pcs. to the back of the project.  Then cut a 8″sq. of white cardstock and attach to the back of the project to cover the ends of the bow and make a clean backside.

Step 6:  On the back of the project I attached Elizabeth Craft Designs: Lace Pocket

Lace pocket

This step is optional, but this is where I wrote a little note about why I chose this particular image for this project for the recipient, but also some things I love about them.

Here’s a few more I made:

I’ve made a total of 13 of these!

Thanks so much for taking a look and I hope you are staying safe and finding some fun projects to make if you are also “sheltering in place”.  And I hope you’ll experiment with digitals!

For April Fools Day!

Tea cups front h2o (2)

The front of the card.

Tea cups inside h2o (2)

The Opened card.

Because April Fools Day is right around the corner,  Francis Byrne, this month’s hostess gave us the challenge to make a card with some kind of trick like a pop up!  I love pop ups so that’s what I made.

The Steps:

I started by printing out the “Stacked Tea Cups” (not the name) from a digital stamp.  I’ve had this in my computer for a long time and don’t remember whose it is.  I think it is from CraftsUPrint.  If I’m wrong and someone recognizes it, I would love to be corrected.  I then colored the image with Copic Markers.  I cut the colored image out with Elizabeth Craft Designs:1175 – Dotted Scallop Squares

2017-07-23 16.40.52

I cut a tan mat using Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1118 – Stitched Squares2017-07-23 16.40.23

I cut a brown sort of linen print mat with the same die set above.

Step 2:  Using a now discontinued Karen Burniston’s  103 – Cup Pop Stand – 6 die set.  I looked over at YouTube to see if the assembly video is still available just in case you could find this die set on EBay., but it has also been taken down.

Step 3:  Make a base card by scoring an 8.5″ x 11″ pc. of card stock at 5.5″ on 11″ side.  Trim to a 5.5″ square tent fold base card. This is when you start the Pop Up die cutting process.  If you have this die set from Karen, then you know how to die cut what will become the “Cup Pop up” inside the card.

Step 4:  I added two more teacups to imitate the front of the card.  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs 1072 – Small Butterfly: https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/products/small-butterfly-1072

Small Butterfly

For the inside sentiment,  I used Elizabeth Craft Designs 1161 – Happy Birthday 2 and 1154 – Calligraphic Elements 1 https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/collections/dies

A Way With Words, Calligraphic Elements 1 A Way With Words, Happy Birthday 2

The leaves inside are from Elizabeth Craft Designs 1487 – Garden Notes – Lilac 2:  https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/products/garden-notes-lilac-2

Garden Notes - Lilac 2

The lower picture shows that both sides of the stacked cups are the right side of the designer card stock.  You can make this happen by cutting the cup once with the die taped to the right side of the card stock and cut a second cup with the same card stock but tape the die to the wrong side of the card stock.  Then you adhere them together which makes “no wrong side” cups!

Step 5:  Adhere the stamped image layer to the tan mat and then to the darker brown one.  Cut a 5.5″ x 5.5″ square of the same card stock used for the base card.  Adhere the image stack to this square and adhere to the front of the Pop UP card.  Also used Brown Pan Pastel and sponged on the edges of the insided yellow card stock to give it sort of an antique look like the front.  Add another  5.5″ square to the other side of the pop up for the back of the card.  This step covers up both Pop up holes.  Here’s another look:

I’ve had this digital stamp for years and have used it a few times.  It is called “Snow Fun” and is by Dr. Digi.  Snow Fun

snow fun (1)I love digital stamps because you can make them any size you want,  you can put backgrounds behind them, they print perfectly the first time, you can buy them pre-colored, and you don’t have to clean or store them!

The Steps:

Step 1:  Size, print and color with the medium of your choice.  I colored mine with Copic Markers.

Step 2:  I used the 4th to the largest die to cut the colored image from this set by Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1116 – Stitched Circles

Garden Notes - Frame It/ Stitched Circles

Step 3:  Use the 3rd to the largest die in the same set to cut a slightly larger circle for a mat for step 2.  Adhere the “image circle” to the blue circle.

Step 4:  Cut two each of the largest and smallest dies, out of wood look cardstock from: 1254 – Entwined Circles Glue the two of each together ending up with one of each but  thicker, which gives it more dimension.  Cut the little snowflake out 8 times.  Note:  The dies in this set will cut through two layers of cardstock at once.  You can always run it through your die cutting machine twice to make sure, as they are intricate.

Entwined Circles

Step 5:  Create the sentiment in word, “Just stopped by to say “Hay” and print on white cardstock.  Cut out with the 3rd die to the smallest in the same set as in step 2 and out of the same blue cardstock and the 4th to the smallest cut a blue mat.  Adhere the sentiment circle to the blue circle.

Step 6:  Make a base card by scoring an 11 x 8.5″ pc. of white cardstock at 5.5″ on the long side.  Trim to 5 x 7″ with a book fold.  Cut a rectangle from a designer paper that looks wintery and measures 4.75 x 6.75″.  Adhere this rectangle to the front of the base card.  Optional Note:  I created in word, the inside sentiment and printed it on white cardstock first.

Step 7:  Adhere the matted larger “image” circle to the top half of the front but make sure you leave room to layer on the “Entwined Circle” as shown:

snowman front h2o

Then adhere the Entwined circle over the top.  Repeat for the smaller “sentiment” circle in the lower left of the card.

Step 8:  I added clear Wink Of Stella to the snowflakes and a silver clear glitter dot to the center of each.  Glue the snowflakes as shown.

Here’s one more look:  snowman front h2o

Thanks so much for stopping by and we’d love to see your sense of humor this week!

C4C – 434 Train Day!

A cute birthday card for a child.

2018-05-07 C4C 434

2018-05-07 19.22.02

Yep, today is apparently Train Day!  So the challenge today is to put a train on it!  Now there probably is a die set of a train somewhere, but I haven’t seen it.  So I went for another digital stamp.  I found this cute circus train on Etsy from an artist’s shop called Pretty Grafik.

2018-05-05 22.31.42

The Steps:

Step 1:  Size, print and color up the image:

2018-05-06 20.55.18

Step 2:  Using a stencil from Elizabeth Craft Designs called Earth and Sky:

Earth & Sky - Stencil - ElizabethCraftDesigns.com

Stencil clouds on the upper half with PanPastel’s 520.5 Ultramarine Blue.  Using a small sponge dauber and Panpastel’s 780.5 Raw Umber and a little 250.5 Diarylide Yellow.

Step 3:  Using the die set below cut all  pcs. with white cardstock and color with Copic markers or cut with green cardstock.

2016-11-08-19-07-36

Step 4:  Cut the words Happy Birthday  with green cardstock.

Step 5:  Make a card base by cutting a pc. of 12 x 12″ cardstock in half.  Score one half at 6″ on the long side.  Fold over for a top fold card and trim to a 5.75″ square.  Adhere the finished scene pc. onto the card base.

Step 6:  The inside balloons were made with this die set Lollypop:

The strings for the balloons came from a set that has since been discontinued.  You could use a pc. of real string or yarn and glue in place.

The sentiment inside “Make it as fun as train full of circus animals!” was created on my computer and printed on yellow cardstock and cut with the 2nd largest die from this set:

Humor with a message!

Humor with a message!

2018-04-22 C4C 432

This week’s challenge #432 over at Crazy4Challenges  is to use this phrase as inspiration:

“Skating on thin Ice”

I have a friend who is married to a man who refuses to take the advise from his doctor.  I’ll be sending her this card unsigned so she can give it to her hubby.

The Steps:

Step 1:  Using Art Impressions UMI1238 stamp on paper suitable to the color medium of your choice:

2018-04-24 12.14.05

I colored her with Copic Markers.

Step 2:  Cut one door from med. brown cardstock using Elizabeth Craft Designs  1128 – CountryScapes Carolina Farmhouse Door:

2018-04-24-12-27-34.jpg

Step 3:  The urn with flowers and wreath on the door were cut from this set                  1010 – CountryScapes – Backyard 2 also from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

2018-04-24 12.35.24

Cut one urn, the flowers for the urn and the pieces for the wreath.  I cut all the tiny flower pcs. for the urn and wreath from pink cardstock.  The wreath itself, bow, urn leaves I cut from white cardstock and color with Copic Markers.

Step 4:  I love digital stamps because you can resize them.  For this card I chose “Caffeinated Craig” from Dr. Digi House of Stamps:

Caffinated-Craig

Print and size “Craig” to 3.25″, color and fussy cut him out.

Step 5:  I created the sentiment on my computer and cut it out with the smallest die from this set by Spellbinders “Card Creator”:

2018-03-27 22.40.50

I applied, a with a light touch, PanPastel’s “black” to distress the edges.

2018-04-24 13.46.38

You should now be ready to assemble the card:

2018-04-15 11.55.03

Step 6:  Cut the cross pcs. out of the door window and glue the Art Impression colored stamped image behind the door as shown above.

Make base card by cutting a pc. of 12 x12″ cardstock in half.  Score one of the halves at 6″ on the long side.  Fold over.  I chose Elizabeth Craft Designs Soft Finish Cardstock Dove Gray.  I love this cardstock because it’s colored on one side only.  This is a great choice when you want to stamp a sentiment on the inside.

2018-04-22 14.20.10

Step 7:  Cut a 5.75″ square of designer paper or cardstock that will look like the side of a house.  I chose this brick paper from Michaels because of the colors, but you could also use a “wood grain” look.

Adhere the door, with image behind it to the left lower side as pictured.  I curved “Craig” slightly with my thumbs.  Then I adhered him to the card as shown by gluing only his shoes to the card and putting a foam dot behind him about where the donut is.  Now add your floral pcs. and the sentiment and that’s it!

Thanks so much for having a look.  I love to make pretty cards but also find it really fun to make a funny card sometimes.  I’d love you to leave a message so I know who stopped by.  I love to read them!

C4C – 427 Cutie Patootie Challenge

C4C - 427 Little one

I decided to make an unconventional “baby card”.

I am absolutely crazy for Elizabeth Craft Designs release of their two Happy Frame die sets.  For this DT card I used this set:

2018-03-07 14.09.27

Let’s make this card:

Step 1:  I found this adorable digital stamp, at Di’s Digi Stamps.

(You go straight to her online store by clicking on the blue link above)

2018-03-09 22.14.41

It’s called “Hello Bumblebee”.  Size, print and color the image.  I colored it with Copic Markers.  I added shading to the background with PanPastels.  Cut out your colored image with the 3rd. to the largest die in the below set on the left.  Then cut a brown mat with the 2nd to the largest die in the set on the right.  Adhere the stamped layer to the brown scalloped mat:

Step 2:  Cut out the die four times out of wood look cardstock. from the set called Happy Frame from Elizabeth Craft  Designs.  (pictured above with link to the store in blue.)  I chose a piece from this paper pack:

2018-03-07 14.10.02

Here is the assembly video: Happy Frame assembly video

Note: Cut your four frame pcs. to 6.25 x 6.25″.  Your finished frame will be a 6.25″ square.

Step 3:  Using the dies on the far right below cut two pink and two white layers for a small pink daisy and white daisy.  Repeat for a smaller daisy of each color.  Cut the circle center pc. for the daisies with the pc. shown below on the right side of the picture below:

2018-03-15 20.11.05

This set is from Docrafts and is called: Glorious Gerbera.  I added a little darker pink Copic marker from the middle out to the pink daisies.

Cut the leaves only (two of each) from this set: 1368 – Garden Notes – Dahlia:

2018-03-18 19.09.18

Cut two of the longer die from this set:

2016-03-28 13.50.59

Cut enough of the “bee parts” to make 3 bees from this set:

2017-07-17 12.19.56

Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock from this stamp set below:

2018-03-12 22.50.53

Cut out sentiment with the 2nd to the smallest die in this set from QuicKutz:

2016-07-24 12.16.08

I used PanPastels to add a little blue color to the edges.

Choose a designer paper and cut a square that measures 6.25″ x 6.25″.

2018-03-09 22.13.44

Step 4:  Adhere the designer square paper behind the wood frame.  Adhere the image stack to the center and then decorate the frame as shown.

Here’s a look at the inside of the card:

2018-03-22 21.55.27

It was made by creating a base card by scoring a pc. 12″ x 6″ pc. white cardstock at 6″.  Then fold over.  Attach two squares of the same designer paper.  Then I added charm dies, banners and the word Congratulations from these dies.

That’s it!

Thanks so much for taking a look.  I know you’re time is valuable so I appreciate it.  I can’t wait to see what you make if you choose to take the challenge!

C4C – 425 National Poultry Day!

Hi card makers!  This weeks challenge is to make a card using something that has feathers.  I love this image from  Doctor Digi House of Stamps called “Quackers”.

Let’s make this card.  A fast and easy one!

The steps:

Step one:   I like to print out on copy paper first in two different sizes before I print onto cardstock.

2018-03-05 15.45.09

Once you decide what size you like, print out on white cardstock.  This is my favorite cardstock for coloring with Markers.   I learned of this cardstock on the  Kit and Clowder website, where I take classes.  It can be purchased on Amazon.

2018-01-29 12.23.15

Step 2:  Color the printed image and fussy cut it out.

Step 3:  Score a pc. of 8.8 x 11″ white cardstock at 5.5″ along the long side.   So that you don’t cut two ovals, position the largest die from the die set below with the top of the die extending over the fold just under the cutting line.  The result will be an oval shape card but won’t interrupt the stitched edge.  Distress the edges with PanPastels 520.5 Utramarine Blue and sponge daubers.

2018-03-05 17.06.38

2018-03-05 15.40.41

Step 4:  Using this die set with either below cut only the branch from Elizabeth Craft Designs :  You can cut it from wood grain cardstock or brown or white and color it.

2017-03-15 14.27.24

Step 5:  With your computer create a sentiment.  I’m sending this card to a friend who is angry with her husband who thinks “intimate” contact fixes every bad mood.  I’m hoping that she will get a chuckle out of it.  But it can be used for a lot of occasions.  I also used this same image for this card:

Barbara's Quackers

Step 5:  Cut out the sentiment with a “speech bubble” die from this set:

2017-07-31 11.54.20

Step 6:  The last step is to assemble the card.  First adhere the branch to the front of your oval card,  You may have to trim the branch on the bottom of the oval.  I trimmed the narrow bottom pc. under the duck on the left as it was about 1/4 in. over the edge.

Thank you so much for taking some of your time to take a look.  I’d love for you to leave a comment or follow me.  If you have any questions or need help on something you want to create please a comment and I will get right back with you.

Di’s Digis – Another resource for Adorable!

An adorable Celebration card for any occasion!

This week’s challenge over at  C4C – 423 Crazy 4 Challenges is to make a card with a yummy dessert on it!  My Design Team inspiration card this week is one of several images I bought from a digital stamp designer that is new for me.  On the Kit and Clowder Facebook Page I saw one of the Clowdies posted a card made with an image I just loved.  So much so I went over to Di’s Digi Stamps  and bought several digital stamps.  I chose this one for my card. It’s called “Ellies strawberry cupcake”

2018-02-20 19.12.26

I mean seriously, how cute is this!  Please, if you like digital stamps, and you love “cutsie” like me, do yourself a favor and look around this site.  I’ll be featuring the others in the next few week’s (again, I am not compensated in any way by my referrals.  I just love to pass on to you what I call a “SCORE”!  Here’s the link Di’s Digi Stamps

Let’s make this easy  card

The Steps:

Step 1:  Size, print and color the image.  I colored with Copic Markers.  I also added “Chrystal Lacquer” to the elephant’s eyes and the dripping chocolate and cherry available at Amazon.  Now cut out the image using the third to the largest die in the set below  from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

2017-12-04 15.04.47

Step 2:  Using the same die set pictured above, cut a lavender cardstock mat using the second to the largest die.

Step 3:  Cut a mat out of darker lavender or purple cardstock using the largest die from the set below:

2017-07-30 12.38.42

Step 4:  Using the die set below cut all the pieces to make the smallest strawberry and the small leaves.

2016-07-06 21.57.43

Step 5:  Cut the pieces of one of the cup cakes from this die set below:

2017-08-16 13.10.32

Step 6:  Cut the word Celebrate from the die set below:

Dies R Us – Kids Cards!

Combine stamping and Die cutting to make adorable cards.

I decided to enter the current challenge at Dies R Us which is “Kids Cards”.

2018-01-16 DiesRus

The image I chose for this challenge is one called “Peaceful Easter” from The Paper Shelter.  I fell in love with this sweet image of innocence:

2018-01-15 16.46.56

The Steps:

Step 1:  Download, size and print the image.  If you’re new to digital stamps,  the greatest reference on many things about using digital images is from a website called Kit and Clowder.   This is a company that teaches coloring with Markers and Pencils.  They also have areas on their website that have an amazing amount of information on all things coloring!  The below photo shows how I always print out an image that I buy in both the black and white, and color version on one page that I keep in a binder.  It also has the image that I colored with PrismaColor Premium Pencils.

2018-01-15 16.48.02

After I colored the stamped image I created the background with stencils and PanPastel’s then trimmed the finished image to 5 x 7″ with the stamped image centered:

2018-01-15 16.35.56

Step 2:  Cut 2 rectangle mats that measure 5 x 7″.  One from Designer cardstock and one from white cardstock.  From the Die set below on the right 1113 – Stitched Ovals, center the second to the largest on the Designer cardstock and run through your machine.  From the same die set, center the third to the largest on the white rectangle.  Save the Oval mats for another project because you will use the rectangle mats with the oval cut outs.

2016-11-26-17-11-25Step 3:  Adhere the white mat to this layer. Then, on top. the Designer layer.  The photo below is these 3 layers and the beginning of step 4:

2018-01-16 13.24.10

Step 4:  Cut from white cardstock and color with Copic Markers, all the decorator items as follows:

Peaceful Easter collage

Cut the grass, eggs, bunnies and fence once.  Cut all the Holly Hock pcs. to assemble the holly hock on your card directly and build the plant from the stem up as the picture in step 3.

Step 5:  Assemble the Holly Hock on the left as shown then add the fence, bunnies and eggs on the bottom.

Step 6:  Create a base card by scoring a 8.5 x 11″ at 5.5″ on the long side.  Fold and trim down to 5.5 x 7.5″.  Adhere the assembled front to the base.

That’s It!

Thanks so much for taking a look.  Please follow and leave a comment.  I love to read them and answer any questions.
