C4C – 440 Ombre Technique

Ombre Background

C4C 440 final

Ok, first I just have to say I suck at water color paper.  I watched this video of this kid demonstrating how he makes ombre backgrounds and it looked so easy.  I had this paper that is water color paper so I tried this kids technique.  I obviously need to practice because my light to dark is not fluid.  I pulled too much color in areas and well you can see.  But, there are no “challenge police” at Crazy4Challenges and after it dried I liked how it looked.  I saw like clouds and sky going to water.  So I went with it.

The Steps:

Step !:  Create a background using one color of ink going from dark to light.  There are so many good videos on this technique on YouTube.  I just used a blue Hampton Art mini cube ink.  There is no color on the little mini as it is part of a pack of 9.  I cut the background to a 5″ square.

Step 2:  Stamp the grasses, pussy willows and birds from this stamp set:

Step 3:  Stamp the sentiment with this little stamp set:

Step 4:  Make a base card by scoring a pc. of 8.5 x 11″ White cardstock at 5.5″.  Fold as a book fold card and trim to a 5.5″ square.  Cut a 5.25″ sq. from Black cardstock and adhere it to the white base card.  Now adhere the stamped ombre card and That’s It!
