I just recently acquired one of Elizabeth Craft Designs newer nested die sets as part of a Mother’s Day gift certificate!:  1537 – Stiched Hexagons

So that’s what I used for the base card.

The Steps:

Step 1:  Score a 8.5 x 11″ pc. of white cardstock at 5.5″ on the long side.  Fold over. Next, using the largest die in the set above tape one of the edges of the die onto this folded pc. of cardstock with the fold below the cutting blade:

Run this through your die cutting machine and you will get a hexagon shaped card that could be a book fold or a top fold like mine.

Step 2:  Using the 2nd largest in the same set cut a black mat.  With the 3rd to the largest cut a white mat.

Step 3:  I adore this older die set by Joset for Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1179 – Ladybug

ECD - Lg lady bug

Using black and red cardstock, cut the pcs. for both lady bugs and assemble them’

Step 4:  Cut two of the larger leaf pc. from this set from Elizabeth Craft Designs: 730- -Curvy Leaves

Step 5:  On the white hexagon you cut in step 2, stamp the sentiment from this stamp set from Stephanie Barnard of Stamps of Life:

Since you have the assembled Ladybugs and leaf pcs., you can experiment with where to stamp.

Step 6:  To stamp a sentiment on the inside is optional and could be used for even a sympathy card for someone going through something.  Here’s the inside of mine, using more of the stamps in Stephanie’s set:

Step 7:  Assemble the card as shown and that’s it!  Here’s one more look:
