A few years ago I bought a bunch of coordinated cardstock from KaiserCraft called “Hello Birdie”. It is double sided 12 x 12″ paper. You know the kind that has prints, strips and solids that are all in the same colors. The sketch this week gave me the opportunity to use these papers. I have a best friend that seeing prints and stripes together, literally makes her head hurt! LOL This is an easy one.
The Steps:
Step 1: Choose some designer cardstocks that coordinate together. One of your choices has to be a solid cardstock for the 3 squares unless the papers you choose aren’t as busy as mine. I love to mix it up! The card measures 5.5 x 7″. What I always loved about the C4C Challenges is that there is no “Challenge Police”! Even with the design team inspiration cards, although we all pretty much followed the sketch, our interpretations are all different! My middle portion (the one with horizontal stripes and squares) is not in exact proportion as the sketch. I wanted to use some elements that gave the card dimension (the flowers, bees and green ladybug), so I needed smaller squares.
Make a card base by scoring a pc. of 8.5 x 11″ cardstock at 5.5″ on the 11″ side and fold for a tent fold card. Trim to 5.5 x 7″.
Step 2: Choose one cardstock and cut a background mat that measures 5.25 x 6.75″ and adhere to the base card. I like to use Double Sided Adhesive.
Step 3: With a different cardstock cut a panel that measures 2.5 x 6.75″. Adhere it to the middle of the card as shown.
Step 4: With a third cardstock cut 2 stripes that measure 1/2″ x 6.75″ and two stripes that measure 3/8″ x 6.75″. Adhere the stripes as shown.
Step 5: Using Elizabeth Craft Designs: 1118 – Stitched Squares cut 2 of the smallest dies in this set and one of the second to the smallest in your solid cardstock. Adhere them to the horizontal panel as shown.
Step 6: Using Elizabeth Craft Designs: 710 – Bees cut the pcs. to make 3 bees and assemble them.
Step 7: Using Elizabeth Craft Designs: 711 – Lady Bugs cut on fat lady bug body pc. with black cardstock and the open wings from green cardstock. Glue the green wings over the body pc.
Step 8: Using Docrafts “Glorious Gerbera” cut the smallest Daisy 6 times and it’s center 3 times to make 3 completed daisies. Use 2 offset daisy petal pcs. per daisy.
Step 9: Stamp a sentiment on a pc. of cardstock and I hand cut the sentiment out as a “fish tail” banner.
Step 10: Adhere the bees, sentiment banner and ladybug as shown.
That’s it!
Thanks so much for taking a look and I hope you’ll join the challenge. We love looking at your projects. You inspire us!
