I have two grandchildren who are in college but the first to graduate won’t be until Dec. and the other is 2 yrs. away.   They are both doing very well but one loves to study and write essays and the other does not.  She’s more of a computer and gamer wizard!  So I made this card to send to the latter for encouragement.

The Steps:

Step 1:  The Grad Hat is a Silhouette file.  But there are many dies out there that would also work great.

Step 2:  Create the sentiment on your computer, print on white cardstock and cut out

with Elizabeth Craft Designs  1116 – Stitched Circles

Out of yellow cardstock cut a circle using Elizabeth Craft Designs 1172 – Dotted Scallop Circles– .

Adhere the white sentiment circle on top of the yellow one.

Step 3:  Create a base card by cutting a 12 x 12″ pc. of white cardstock in half.  Score one half at 6″.  Fold over to make a tent fold card.

Step 4:  Using Elizabeth Craft Designs 1168 – Bead Strings !, cut the diamond shaped string twice with gold mirror cardstock. Note: I first adhered a 2″ x 6″ strip of the mirror cardstock to Clear Double Sided Adhesive before I die cut.  Also, cut the strip in half to end up with two strips that are 1 x 6″ strips.  Always cut away and mirror cardstock  that is more than you need to cut the die with.  If you don’t the rest of the cardstock will be embossed with all the scratches on the cutting plate and no longer useable.

Step 5:  Assemble the card by adhering the bead strings at 1″ from both the bottom and folded edge.  The add the cap and sentiment.

That’s it!

As always, I really appreciate you hopping over here.  I’d love to have you comment and follow.  I love answering any questions you have about card making!

I have been crafting with paper for several yrs. now. I am a single mother of four grown children (2 boys, 2 girls) and a grandmother of 6 (5 girls and 1 boy). I still work as a hairdresser part time at a beautiful retirement community in San Ramon, CA My passions are: gardening, sewing and crafting with paper while watching my favorite TV shows. I have an amazing dog named Shelby who I just can't imagine life without. I hope, with this blog, that I will inspire, teach, prevent costly mistakes in your journey and well, just have a lot of fun creating.
