For the last challenge in October we were challenged to create a card that honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This challenge is close to my heart because one of my sister’s won her battle with Breast Cancer with a double mastectomy when she was way too young to be fighting anything! This project is for her!
Step 1: First cut and color enough pieces for 3 daisies from this die set by Elizabeth Craft Designs:
Step 2: Create a base card by scoring an 8.5″ x 11″ pc. of pink cardstock at 5.5″ on the long side and fold in half on the score line.
Step 3: Using the below die set, cut out of black cardstock with the largest die. Using the second largest die from the same set cut the next layer from designer paper.
Step 4: Using the below die set cut 3 of the jar pc. as follows: 2 white and 1of Transparency Film. Using the jar die pc. as a guide, place of one of the white jar pcs. and trace the inside of the die with a pencil. Cut the inside of this traced pc. along the penciled line. Glue this cut out piece over the film pc. Color the other white jar with Copic BG000 Pale Aqua at the bottom to look like water.
Step 5: Assembly of the card: Insert the stems of the daisies into the mouth of the jar pc. that is two layers (white outline and film). Next glue in place on the rim of this pc. only. On the underside of this now apply glue to the bottom of the stems and the edges of the jar and adhere to the uncolored white jar.
Center your black mat to the front of the pink base pc. then the designer paper mat over the black. Glue the jar to the left side of the above base sandwich. Now glue the flowers and leaves to the front as pictured.
Step 6: Create the sentiment (Survivor) on your computer and print out on white cardstock and cut it out with the little tag die from this set:
Glue this “Survivor” tag along with a pc. of gross grain pink ribbon as shown to complete this project!
