Challenge #C4C395

Crazy 4 Challenges launches a new challenge every Saturday.  Each designer on their team takes turns deciding what the “theme” of the week will be.  This last Sat. was “Hammock Day” according to The Days of the Year Calendar.  So this weeks challenge was to make a card that depicted “Relaxation”.

I’ve had this cute stamp set for a little while now but hadn’t used it.  It’s from Art Impressions:

I decided that the 3 ladies on folding chairs certainly looked like they’re relaxing!  I decided to have them at the beach front retirement community.  I imagined in my head, they were watching younger men walk by.  LOL!

The Steps:  Stamps and stencils layered!

Step 1:  I Stamped the 3 ladies on 6.75 x 4.75″ White Copic Marker Paper using a Misti and Black Archival Ink.  I colored them with Copic Markers.

Step 2:  Again, I got to use Susan Tierney Cockburn’s stencils:

It was very easy to use the stencils over my colored image step because you can see through them.  I taped them in place and taped on top of the stencils where my ladies were with temporary tape:

The above photo shows after I put in the clouds and the sand mounds.  I colored with PanPastels using these two stencils then filled in the sand dunes with the same color but with a lighter touch.  I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. (details of products at end of this post).

Step 3: Die Cut the palm tree and coconuts out of white cardstock using Elizabeth Craft Designs 987 – Palm Tree & Pail by Karen Burniston.

I colored all of the cut tree pieces with Copic Markers and shaped them with the medium ball tool out of Susan Tierney Cockburn’s Tool Kit.  I adhered the assembled Palm Tree gluing only the bottom of the trunk to the card and putting 3 foam dots to the underside of the tree (under the coconuts area)  to give it more dimension.

I cut the little star fish using a little die that was a “gift with purchase” from Gina Marie Designs using cream scrap cardstock and colored with PanPastels:

Step 4:  Cut a black piece of cardstock 5 x 7″ and adhere your finished scene to this black mat.  Make a base card that measures 5.25 x 7.25″ when folded and adhere the matted scene to the front of the card base.  That’s It!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look.  I hope you’ll join this fun card challenge.  Again, they always have a new one on Saturdays.

I answer all questions from the comments section below past the products list personally.
