C4C326 Umbrella Challenge

This weeks challenge on Crazy4Challenges was to use an umbrella in your project.  I just received my first stamp set order from Pink and Main and one of the two sets I ordered is called “Puddle Girl”.  So, of course she was the perfect choice for this card entry.  There was not a sketch this week.  I’m also going to enter this in the Pink and Main challenge which is themed “Spring”

The card base measures 5.5″ x 7″.   I first colored the stamped image using Copic Markers.  After I had colored the girl I decided I wanted to paper piece the umbrella to match the green polka dot designer paper I was going to use as one of the mats.  “Paper piecing” is a technique where you stamp just the portion of the stamp  on a printed paper (typically) that you want to fussy cut out and apply it to your completed stamp image.  Or you can stamp the whole stamp and cut several parts out of the printed paper.  For example, I could have also cut out her mittens to match her umbrella. The raindrops are stamps included in the set.  There is also a couple of greeting stamps included.  Pink and Main have some really cute stamps and dies.  Their stamps are a really good quality Polymer and I feel very reasonably priced.  They just released their new 2016 sets that are adorable.  This set has been retired so I got it for a bargain.  I just recently found out about this company from a blog and group Facebook page I follow called “Crafting Circle”  Check them out.  I have gotten a lot of good tips from them.

The green polka dot paper mat is 5.25″ x 6.75″  The solid yellow mat is 4.25″ x  6.25″  I rounded the corners with a punch made for rounding corners.  The little grass bits are from a Elizabeth Craft Designs die set called “Garden Bench” pop up.  The flowers and butterfly are both Silhouette Library files.  I also used “3D Crystal Lacquer” to make the puddle shiny like it was wet.

The sentiment is computer generated and cut with a Spellbinders card maker die set.  I just added a little yellow polka dotted bow to finish it off.  Thanks so much for talking a look!

I have been crafting with paper for several yrs. now. I am a single mother of four grown children (2 boys, 2 girls) and a grandmother of 6 (5 girls and 1 boy). I still work as a hairdresser part time at a beautiful retirement community in San Ramon, CA My passions are: gardening, sewing and crafting with paper while watching my favorite TV shows. I have an amazing dog named Shelby who I just can't imagine life without. I hope, with this blog, that I will inspire, teach, prevent costly mistakes in your journey and well, just have a lot of fun creating.
