This is my card entry for Crazy 4 Challenges for this week!
First, this is the sketch that was presented for the challenge.
I wanted to do something other than Halloween even though it is October. Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. Maybe because I was born in September or maybe because usually by now we in California have finally seen the last of the 100 degree days. Although we’re expecting 86 today!
I knew that I wanted to use this cute Silhouette file with pumpkins in a basket. So last night I sized and cut the images from this file. Today I started searching through my stash of paper for what might be cute for the two panels. Easier said then done. Every time I found a printed paper, it was just to busy for my cut images. I finally found a muted print and decided that was the way to go. It was then a chore going through all the browns and beiges to find solid cardstock to back the prints and a lighter one for the card itself. Sometimes for me, the selection of paper is more time consuming then choosing, sizing, cutting and assembling the images. Once I assembled all of the images I decided I needed a phrase and went back to the Silhouette store and chose the “I love fall” image. The leaves were created first by using my new PanPastel kit by Susan Tierney Cockbum. It’s part of her “Susan’s Garden” craft materials. The one I bought is called “Flower Coloring Kit 1” I bought mine on Amazon to save shipping costs. If you haven’t tried PanPastels, it is so much fun. Go on YouTube and search this product for a demo. But I warn you, you’re going to want them and they’re a little pricey. On white cardstock I started applying orange, yellow, red iron oxide and permanent red and blending the colors. Then I cut out the leaves randomly from that cardstock. The kit I bought doesn’t have greens or blues so I cut a few leaves from green cardstock.
